A successful and well respected SME Infrastructure Consultancy are enjoying the next phase of their consistent growth, and requires a passionate and dedicated Commercial Manager to support the Practice Director deliver projects and services across the broader Infrastructure Sectors in the South East.
You will most likely have a background and experience in a number of business sectors (highways, rail, water, gas, electricity, renewables etc.) as a qualified Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Manager and are looking for an environment where you will have the backing and support to broaden your skills and Client exposure, rather than, perhaps, being constrained to service delivery with one Client, however successful and profitable that may be.
You will lead, develop and manage a practice team to deliver services on key client accounts across a number of service lines to deliver budgeted Profit & Loss targets.
Initially support the team leadership in a pro-active and professional manner to ensure continual development of services and staff.
Management and development of service line tools and methodologies.
Become recognised as a trusted partner and advisor, understand client needs, and map their requirements with appropriate service offerings.
Identify business opportunities across the South East region.
Showcase expert level of knowledge and understanding in one or more industries/sectors, preferably across a number of Infrastructure sectors (highways, utilities and major projects), and present capability to new clients and active participation at industry conferences.
Develop a strong service line by developing and recruiting resources.
Direct and deliver bids in response to requests for proposals.
Effectively manage invoicing and collection process, managing multiple project cash flows and service line forecasts against budgets.
Develop and maintain a comprehensive cash management process with regular reporting.
Acts as a role model and mentor to internal and client staff, supporting and engaging with team members.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
* Possess the business’ core values – Honesty, Respect, Integrity & Trust, Collaboration and Accountability
* Chartered professional qualification and minimum 10 years of team management experience.
* Lead Practitioner with high levels of competence in Commercial Management.
* Deep understanding of specific markets and offerings, with leading sector / account knowledge and experience
* Can motivate self and others to always deliver results, promoting professionalism and fostering a high performance culture in their service line or team
* Ability to pro-actively work with peers within a busy and growing SME environment.
