Job Description
A multi-office High Street, Lexcel accredited practice is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant/Secretary to join their Private Client department. This role is ideal for someone with proven, recent experience within the Wills & Probate department.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist legal advisors with their private client caseload, specifically in the areas of Wills, Probate, and Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs).
* Draft and prepare legal documentation, including Probate, LPAs, Wills, Trusts, and general correspondence.
* Prepare and complete Inheritance Tax (IHT) forms such as IHT205, IHT217, and IHT400.
* Prepare LPA forms and Wills based on solicitor’s notes.
* Prepare Probate forms online.
* Use the LEAP case management system (preferred but not essential).
* Maintain excellent technical knowledge of private client work and the ability to work unsupervised.
* Build and maintain client and referrer relationships.
* Perform digital audio transcription.
* Maintain a typing speed of 60 WPM.
* Demonstrate excellent administration and organisational skills.
Candidate Requirements:
* At least three years of experience in assisting within Private Client, Wills, and Probate.
* Self-motivated, highly organised, and good communication skills.
* Ability to commute easily to Romford, Gidea Park, and Collier Row.
* Friendly and approachable, with excellent team player qualities.
Working Environment:
* Primarily based in Romford, with occasional support needed at other offices.
* Work as part of a friendly, enthusiastic team.
